What’s a “building envelope”?
A building envelope is is any physical barrier (think walls, insulation, doors, etc) between the conditioned and unconditioned environment. The building envelope should have impenetrable resistance to the cold, heat, water, and even noise. It keeps what you want in, and what you don’t want out. Many older structures suffer from energy loss due to a deteriorating and out-dated building envelope. Deficiencies in insulation and air sealing may be driving up your energy costs.
Insulation and Air Sealing
